Economic blockade leaves trucks stranded on highway
Imphal, June 7 (UNI) The Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) have begun an economic blockade demanding only local candidates be selected as teachers for the schools in the hill districts.
Police said several trucks have been left stranded at the Manipur Nagaland border on National Highway 39 since midnight yesterday, though normal traffic remained unaffected.
Earlier, also the organisation had called an economic blockade on the same issue but it was called off after the government's assured fulfilling their demands.
The state government has appointed teachers on adhoc basis for the hill districts.
