Itanagar, Jun 07: The Arunachal Pradesh government is mulling plan to re-introduce the concept of model village in all the 60 constituencies of the state.

Stating this at a meeting at Ramsing under Upper Siang district yesterday, Chief Minister Gegong Apang said a decision to this effect would be taken in a cabinet meeting soon and all necessary works would be initiated after approval of the cabinet, official sources said here today.

Mr Apang said Ramsing village of his constituency (Tuting-Yiongkiong) had been proposed for the project initially as its population was optimum for formation of the village council.

''The villagers should abreast themselves of the new initiative of the government'', the Chief Minister said adding that the villagers would be the instrument of the government in project implementation and execution within the village jurisdication.

'' It would have semi-government structure. The village council would decide the development projects best suited for the village, while the fund would be provided to the village council for the projects, and its execution would be supervised by the concerned departments,'' Mr Apang said.

''The function of the schools, hospitals and other basic institutions will be under the command of the village councils'', he said.

Mr Apang informed that seven roads have been cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs of the union government for his state including Yiongkiong-Bishing state road, Taliha-Tato inter-basin state road and Indo-Mynmar state road.
