AP Vigilance Dept detects tax evasion
Vijayawada, Jun 7 (UNI) The Vigilance and Enforcement Departments detected tax evasion to the tune of Rs 82.2 crore by various departments during 2005-2006, a senior official today said.
Addressing a press conference here, Vijayawada Vigilance Superintendent of Police B Ramana Kumar said evasion to the tune of Rs 50.9 crore was found in the Revenue Department, including its devlopment and engineering wings.
Similarly, arrears amounts to be paid by Endowment and Excise Departments, among others, amounting to Rs 15.6 crore and an equal amount in wasteful expenditure was detected.
Disciplinary action has been recommended against those responsible for the evasion, he added.
The Revenue Wing also found some dealers to have omitted purchases of marble from Rajasthan from their account books.
