AP Govt to replace TTD Trust board

Tirumala, Jun 7 (UNI) In view of ensuing local body elections in the state, the state government is contemplating to set up a Specified Authority (SA), replacing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) trust board, whose two-year term expires tomorrow.

The new specified authority comprise three IAS officers, Revenue Secretary D C Rosaiah , Endowment Commissioner A B Krishna Reddy and TTD Executive Officer A P V N Sarma, sources told UNI.

The state government was likely to appoint the SA as per the Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious Intitutions and Endowments Act.

The regular board would be constituted only after the Panchyat elections, sources added.

It was for the second time the state government was replacing the TTD trust board with Specified Authority.

Earlier in May 2004, the S A was setup, when the member of the TTD trust board, who was nominated by the then ruling Telugu Desam , submitted resignation following debacle in the assembly elections.

After that, a new trust board chaired by Congress minister T Subbarami Reddy , along with 11 members assumed charge on June 8 ,2004, the sources added.
