Ambassadors join Sheila Dikshit in making Delhi 'green'
New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit led more than 15 ambassadors to plant trees at PHD House on the occasion of the World Environment Day.
Those present included high commissioners and ambassadors of the UK, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uruguay, Fiji, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Italy and China.
Some of the diplomats were accompanied by their wife. Ms Sofia Blake, wife of the US Deputy Chief of Mission, came with her two daughters to plant a tree each for posterity.
TERI Director General R K Pachauri, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Qamar Ahmed, Mr S Padmanaban from USAID, Orient Ceramics CMD M K Daga, Mr Mahesh Prasad, former Environment Secretary and Sahara TV CEO, PHDCCI President Sushma Berlia and Vice President Sanjay Bhatia also planted trees along with other senior industrialists and environmentalists.
A conferencee on 'Corporate Responsibility Towards Environment for Sustainable Development' had also organised as part of the world environment day celebrations by PHDCCI.
