Tiruchirapalli, June 7 (UNI) About 30 volunteers of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) were arrested this afternoon, when they attempted to stage a 'Roadroko agitation' at Mainguardgate area, to protest against the hike in price of petrol and diesel by the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre.

As part of their nationwide agitation programme against the price hike, the agitators led by BJP state secretary Balaji Sivaraj came in a procession from the party office at Thillainagar to the Mainguardgate area by pulling a motorcycle-laden bullock cart.

The agitators raised slogans demanding the Center to withdraw the price hike immediately.
