27 BJP workers including Mayor held for blocking rail traffic

Vadodara, June 7 (UNI) Government Railway Police (GRP) today arrested 27 BJP workers, including Mayor Sunil Solanki and party's city unit president Sabdasaran Brahmabhatt, for blocking rail traffic at Vadodara station in protest against the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices.

About 2,000 workers of the party squatted on the tracks as the Mumbai-bound Ferozpur Janata Express arrived here. The protestors allowed the train to proceed only after half-an-hour.

Police later arrested the Mayor and the BJP city unit president along with 25 other party workers for staging the 'rail-roko' agitation.

Railway control room said barring the lone Ferozpur Janata Express, movement of no other trains were affected due t the agitation.
