White House fence jumper arrested
Washington, June 5 (UNI) United States Secret Service sleuths arrested a man who tried to jump over the fence at the southern entrance to the White House.
Roger Witmer, 44, of Washington, was stopped before he could jump into the compound. But, he managed to throw some plastic bags.
Witmer now faces charges of unlawful entry and disorderly conduct.
Traffic was shut down so that the police could examine the bags for explosives. However, nothing was found.
When the incident happened, President Bush was not present inside the White House and he was on a bicycle ride in suburban Maryland.
