Wait for Muhkerjee Report on Telangana: Digvijay

Guna, Madhya Pradesh, June 5 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh, incharge of Andhra Pradesh Congress, today said any decision on the formation of a separate Telangana state would be taken only after submission of a report by a committee chaired by Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

''The communists are not exerting unnecessary pressure on the Centre's UPA government. Every issue is sorted out through discussion,'' he told mediapersons here.

Accusing the BJP of double standards, the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister added that one ''example'' was describing Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as communal in India and secular in Pakistan while another example was the party first opposing VAT and then implementing it.

Rejecting BJP allegations of a spurt in terrorism after the UPA assumed power, Mr Singh said: ''Militancy-related incidents actually declined. Thanks to the Centre's proper policy, an atmosphere is being built up in Kashmir for united opposition to extremism.'' Referring to this state's electricity crisis, he said the government should clarify on what basis it was inking power sale agreements.
