Veteran journalist Surendra Dani selected for T S R award

Bangalore, June 5 (UNI) Veteran journalist Surendra Dani has been selected for the prestigious T S Ramachandra Rao Journalism Award for the year 2005.

The award carried a cash prize of Rs one lakh.

A three-member Committee, comprising 'Prajavani' Editor K N Shanthakumar, 'Vijay Times' Editor Ramakrishna Upadhya and Senior Journalist Dr Vijaya, submitted its recommendations to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today. Information Department Commissioner K V R Tagore was also present.

Mr Dani, born in Dharwad, started his career in journalism by joining 'Samyukta Karnataka' in 1947 as a Reporter and went on to become the Resident Editor of the daily, before retiring.

The veteran journalist, who had penned and published several books, had bagged many awards, including the Karnataka Press Academy Award, Kadri Shamanna Award and Rajyotsava Award.
