Two persons file nominations for Pondy local elections

Pondicherry, Jun 5 (UNI) Two persons filed their nomination papers to contest the first phase local body elections in Pondicherry.

Though the local body polls were being held after a gap of 38 years in the Union Territory, not much interest was seen among the political parties to contest.

Elections to posts of municipal chairman, councillors and commune panchayat council members were only being held on party basis.

The last date for filing nominations was June 10. The first phase of elections would be held on June 24.
