Tata Steel observes World Environment Day
Jamshedpur, Jun 5 (UNI) Tata Steel is giving special emphasis to conservation of resources like water, air and land, deputy managing director (steel) T Mukherjee said today.
Addressing a function on the occasion of World Environment Day inside the works, Mr Mukherjee said the company is committed to improve its energy efficency and trying to reduce carbon dioxide emission.
The company had also taken up several rain water harvesting projects and appropriate measures through modernization to conserver other natural resources, he said and added that Tata Steel is also participating at the International Iron and Steel Institute in finalizing ''sustainable indicators'' for steel industries.
On this occasion awards were given to the winners of environmental quiz programme.
