New Delhi, June 5: Samsung will be launching their LCD coloured televisions this month investing part of the Rs 20 million investment planned this year to develop their various product lines, Samsung Electronics Deputy Managing Director Ravinder Zutsi said today.

Speaking on the sidelines of a media briefing by Consumers Electronics and TV Manufacturers Association CETMA Mr Zutsi said ''The liquid crystal display TV by Samsung will be the first of it's kind in India'' .

Samsung manufactures flat screen televisions which commands 22.3 per cent of the television market of India.

Mr Zutshi pointed out that the Television manufacturing industry is facing difficult times due to low growth, global competition and high level of taxes by the government. This is the reason why many of the electronic goods manufacturing units have moved away from the country, he regretted.

Meanwhile countries like China and Thailand which have internal taxation of around 15 per cent and 7 per cent respectively in comparison to India's overall internal tax of around 35 per cent are gaining ground in electronic goods manufacturing.

However he added that hopes lie in better technology which India posses in comparison to many of the neighbouring countries, strong domestic R&D and ability for logistics management of domestic industries with experience of operating in a vast country like India.
