Rs 136 crore for power works in Faridabad

Chandigarh, June 5 (UNI) The power utilities in Haryana have come up with a Rs 136 crore plan to strengthen transmission and distribution systems in Faridabad district to improve voltage level and quality of power supply.

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) planned to rehabilitate 65 overloaded and lengthier feeders, replace old conductors of 55 feeders, construct five new substations and augment capacity of seven existing substations in the district, a DHBVN spokesman said today.

The new 66 KV substations would be set up at Fatehpur, Biloch, Bhagola, Sector-2 Palwal, Sector 62 and 64 Ballabhgarh and Greenfield, Faridabad.

Construction work of substations at Fatehpur and Bhagola was already in progress. The substations the capacity of which was planned to be augmented included those at Oswal Steel, Dabriwala, NH-3, FCI, Partap Steel, Jharsetly, Dhoj and Hodal.

The spokesman said that the DHBVN planned to add 800 new distribution transformers in the existing network of 8417 transformers in district Faridabad and 75 transformers of lower capacity would be replaced with those of higher capacity. The Nigam added 573 distribution transformers during last year and augmented capacity of 40 existing transformers.

The length of power transmission and distribution lines would be increased by adding 1700 km long power distribution lines of high tension and low tension in the existing dense network in the district.

While the new lines of a length of 135 km have already been added during last year, 1500 KVAR capacitors have also been planned.

The DHBVN also plans to release 24,000 new connections in the district including 1000 connections each of industrial and agriculture categories.

Last year, it had released about 16,000 connections of different categories, he added.
