Pre monsoon rains lash Orissa

Bhubaneswar, June 5 (UNI) Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Orissa for the second day today as the air cyclonic circulation persisted over north west of Bay of West Bengal and Orissa coast.

Met sources said drought-prone Padampur in Western Orissa received the maximum rainfall of 12 cms during the last 24 hours followed by Komna(12 cms), Patnagarh and Junagarh(8 cms).

Heavy rains also reported in Bijepur, Bolangir, Ambadola and Umerkote(7 cms) while Talcher, Thakurmunda, Khariar and Tikabali recorded 6 cms each rainfall.

Normal life in many parts of Orissa was affected as heavy rains continued to lash for the second day today. The day temperature dipped to a considerably low bringing much respite to the people grueling under hot summer.
