One killed in Panchayat elections in Bihar
Patna, June 5 (UNI) One person was killed and a jawan of Special Auxiallary Police (SAP) injured in violence during the eighth phase of Panchayat elections in Bihar today.
An estimated 60 per cent voters turned out to exercise their franchise.
State Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Anil Kumar Sinha told newspersons here that Mushtaque Miyan was killed in group clash during polling at Prahalad Tola under Mohanpur block in Gaya district. He said that a SAP jawan was injured at Nainijor village in Buxar district when anti-socials indugled in brickbatting during polling.
Altogether 978 people, 403 in Banka district, were arrested from different places of the state on charges of disturbing the poll process.
Two country-made rifles and a country made pistol were recovered from anti-socials in Saran district.
