Visakhapatnam, June 5 (UNI) As part of state-level celebrations on the occasion of World Environment Day, Andhra Pradesh organised programmes for environment preservation and eco-friendly life style.

Speaking on the occasion, Indian National Trust for Arts and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Unit co-convenor G Srinivas Murthy said the natural assets of north coastal districts like hills and lakes should be listed in the heritage list prepared by the Visakhapatnam Urban Develoment Authority (VUDA).

Developmental activity should not be viewed from the point of generating wealth alone, but with a larger perspective of natural preservation and integral growth, he said.

In a clean-up drive, over 1500 gathered at Ramakrishna Beach here to clear the beach of wastes.

Many hotels and hospitals conducted free pollution control check for vehicles and leaflets on wastage of water were distributed.
