Nitish calls to protect ecologial balance
Patna, Jun 5 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today called upon the people to be sensitive on environment issues and sincerely work for protecting ecological balance.
Addressing a workshop on World Environment Day here, Mr Kumar said that in the era of industrial development and urbanisation, township areas were spreading without taking environmental issues into consideration.
He emphasiseed on the need for plantation which contributed a lot in maintaining the ecological balance.
He said that polythene bags had become greatest threat to the environment because it was not bio-degradable and choked the drains causing inundation in low lying areas. He said technologial advancement for manufacturing the 'hydrocarbons' from the polythene could be a boon for humankind if it was used on larger scale.
He praised the efforts of enviromnmental activists and officials of the forest department to work for the better environment. He also presented award to officials of NTPC, Hari Nagar Sugal Mills for taking steps to make their industries environment friendly.
