Monsoon to advance in Orissa, Bihar

Pune, June 5 (UNI) Conditions are favourable for further advance of southwest monsoon over remaining parts of West Bengal and Sikkim and in some parts of Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar during next 48 hours.

In the regions where the southwest monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Jammu. They were markedly below normal in Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, appreciably to markedly below normal in Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, east Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, some parts of Kashmir, appreciably below normal in Gujrat region, Telangana and were below normal in Sikkim, Punjab and in some parts of west Rajasthan.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Orissa, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep and at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Konkan and Goa and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, Rayalaseema, interior Karnataka and at isolated places in West Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rjasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat state, Marathwada and Tamil Nadu.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at most places in Orissa, Jharkhand, coastal Karnataka and at many places in Gangetic west Bengal, Konkan and Goa, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar.
