Modi only blowing trumpet, allege Congress MPs

Ahmedabad, June 5 (UNI) Congress MPs Pravin Rashtrapal and Madhusudan Mistry today criticised Chief Minister Narendra Modi saying the latter was only indulging in self-praise while turning a blind eye to the real issues before the state.

Addressing a joint press conference here, the two said the state government's pomposity in projecting Mr Modi as the ''Number one chief minister'' will not help solve the water and electricity problems faced by the Gujarat farmers.

The progress achieved by Gujarat has not come overnight and Mr Modi alone can not claim credit for the same, the two said.

The Planning Commission, the two said, allocates funds to the states after taking into consideration several aspects and a higher allocation to Gujarat is not influenced by the efforts of any particular individual, they said.

The Congress leaders also criticised the Chief Minister for declaring a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh to the Nagpur police who had gunned down three suspected terrorists recently. The three had allegedly plans to blow up the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. The decision to award the Nagpur police lacks political maturity, the two alleged.
