Mediapersons observe day-long fast

Thiruvananthapuram, June 5 (UNI) Mediapersons from all over the state today observed a day-long fast here demanding, among other things, the constitution of the wage board and bringing visual media employees under the Working Journalists Act's purview. Opposition leader Oommen Chandy inaugurated the fast. Chief Minister V S Achutanandan, Thiruvananthapuram MP Panniyan Ravindran, Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala were among others who spoke.

The journalists, newspaper employees and news agency employees participated in the fast, which was organised jointly by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists and the Kerala Newspaper Employees Federation.
