Kannur to get more relief

Kannur, June 5 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said he would try to get increased allocation of funds for Kannur district to provide relief to people affected by the recent rains.

Addressing a conference of officials and people's representatives to review relief measures, he said two weeks free ration had been sanctioned to people of the coastal region and tribal colonies.

Crop loss and damage to houses had been put at about Rs 17 crore.
