Kannur is to get increased relief assistance
Kannur, Kerala, June 5 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today said he would try to get increased allocation of funds for Kannur district to provide relief to people affected by the recent rains.
Addressing a conference of officials and people's representatives convened to review relief measures in the district, he said two weeks free ration had been sanctioned to the people of the coastal region and tribal colonies.
Crop loss and damage to houses in the district had been put at about Rs 17 crore.
