Dunlop factory to reopen by October
Kolkata, June 5 (UNI) Dunlop India's crisis was over tonight following a tripartite agreement that settled long-standing dispute over payment of arrears to the workers.
Dunlop factory in Sahagunj, closed since 1997, will be reopened by October, according to the agreement.
West Bengal Labour Minister Mrinal Banerjee told reporters that agreement had been reached for payment of Rs 2770 to each worker, who had worked upto 30 days.
Dunlop India Chairman Pawan Ruhia was present the meeting besides the leaders of two unions of the factory.
The disbursment of payment of arrears will start from June 20 and work of the factory will resumed by October.
The minister first held meeting with the workers and then a separate talk with the company chairman and finally the tripartite meeting which held at Writers' Buildings.
The factory now has 1179 workers from 4500 total force during its closure.
