'Computer in Chemistry' workshop begins in Guwahati
Guwahati, June 5 (UNI) A three-day UGC-sponsored national workshop on 'Computer in Chemistry' was inaugurated here at the Chemistry department of Cotton College today.
In his inaugural speech, Indian Institute of Technology (Guwahati) Director Gautam Baruah dwelt on the different applications of computer and information technology in the field of science.
He also described how data mining could help in research in Chemistry and allied fields like biotechnology, medicinal science and chemo-informatics.
Cotton College Principal Udayaditya Bharali stressed on the intensive use of computers in different branches of science and other disciplines.
Joint coordinator of the workshop Dr Archana Goswami explained the objective of the workshop.
As many as eight resource people were felicitated in the workshop.
Altogether 45 participants from North East states, West Bengal and Bhutan have registered for the workshop.
