Check propagation of other faiths in temples: Dattatreya
Tirupati, June 5 (UNI) The BJP today alleged that propagation of other faiths had been on the rise on temple premises ever since the Congress came to power in the state.
Addressing a press conference here, BJP national secretary Bandaru Dattatreya said there was an instance of 'unrestricted propagation' at Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Sri Venkateswara University and temples in Bhadrachalam and Simhachalam in Visakapatnam.
Condemning the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' ''negligence'' he urged the government to suspend the officials concerned.
Dharma Parichar Screening Committee should be constituted at all prominent temples, including Venkateswara Temple, for appointment of temple employees, he said.
He urged the government to refrain from political interference in temple affairs and endowment departments.
The party would stage a countrywide agitation if the government fails to check such irregularities, he added.
