Car privatisation for Mizoram govt employees

Aizawl, Jun 05 (UNI) In a bid to bring down the number of government vehicles in their fleet, about 534 vehicles have been given for purchase to the state government officers here.

According to a statment, issued by the government, as on May 30, 2006, the government had received Rs 1,74,23,258 from the sales of these cars and vans from different departments.

Except for the Chief Minister and his Ministers, and those holding the rank of Joint Secretary and above along with Department Directors, all other officers had been prohibited from getting government vehicles.

The prohibition had not been extended to Deputy Commissioners, Field Officers such as SDOs (Civil Aviation) and Block Development Officers and Chairman and Director of Boards.
