BJP to resort 'Chaka jam' on June 7 to protest hike in Petrol, Dies
Bhubaneswar, June 5 (UNI) The BJP will resort to a 'Chakka Jam' throughout the country on June 7 to protest against the hike of the prices of petrol and diesel by the UPA government, party President Rajnath Singh announced here today.
Reacting to the hike of Petrol by Rs four a litre and diesel by Rs two a litre, Mr Singh said though Rajan Committee had recommended a hike in prices of Petroleum products but it was not reflected in the Budget speech of the Union Finance Minister.
He said it was expected that after the budget the UPA government would go for a hike in the prices of petroleum products. It seemed that the UPA government had no grip over the country's economy, he added.
Mr Singh came down heavily on the Left parties stating that they were only shedding crocodile tears and have no sympathy for the common man.
The BJP President said the left parties were very much aware of the hike in the petrol and diesel but they did not put much pressure on the UPA government.
The Chakka jam agitation, Mr Singh said would be organised all over the country between 1100 hours to 1300 hours on June seven.
