BHEL bags order for Lift Irrigation Scheme
New Delhi, June 5: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured an order for setting up a Lift Irrigation Scheme in Andhra Pradesh that will benefit thousands of farmers of the state.
Under the scheme, 275,000 hectares of parched land would be irrigated and made arable, a BHEL spokeman said here today.
Won against stiff competition, the order for the 5x30 MW Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Scheme has been placed on BHEL by Gammon India, which secured the EPC contract for the project from the Andhra Pradesh Government.
BHEL is already executing stage-I of the scheme, the order for which was placed on the company by Patel Engineering.
BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages design, manufacture, supply, testing, and erection and commissioning of pumps, motors, controls and excitation equipment with other associated auxiliaries. While the pumps and motors will be manufactured at BHEL's Bhopal plant, the state-of-the-art controls and excitation equipment will be supplied by the company's Electronics Division, Bangalore.
