Bajrang Dal disrupts minorities' press meet

Bhopal, Jun 5 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh State Minorities Commission today sought Governor Balram Jakhar's immediate intervention to check ''atrocities'' by Hindus on minority Christians during the BJP rule.

During a press conference organised here today by Commission member and prominent Christian leader Indira Iyengar to highlight the gangrape of two tribal Christians in Khargone district, Bajrang Dal local convenor Devandra Rawat stormed in and created a ruckus.

Ms Iyengar and Mr Rawat had a verbal duel and mediapersons intervened to calm them down.

Earlier, Ms Iyengar alleged that minorities were harassed during the BJP rule and offenders were being protected. Even no case was registered in the gangrape case.

Both victims were present in the press conference.

Ms Iyengar added that she had submitted a memorandum to the Governor.

Meanwhile, Mr Rawat alleged that Christian missionaries were inducing tribals to convert and the Bajrang Dal had launched a campaign against it.
