Jammu, June 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Omar Abdullah today welcomed the decision of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to constitute working groups to work out the details of Centre-state relationship.

He said his party would cooperate in the exercise, and hoped that it would herald peace in the state.

Addressing a public rally here, Mr Abdullah reiterated his party's stand that autonomy to the state is the only viable solution to the Kashmir issue.

''We believe autonomy is the only viable solution to the Kashmir (issue) and I hope that the central government will work in that direction sooner than later,'' he said.

He said his party would, however, keep the interest of every community in mind, towards finding a dignified solution of the issue.

He also attacked the BJP and All Party Hurriyat Conference for not participating in the recent Round Table Conference at Srinagar.

''When these leaders can meet Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. I do not understand why cannot they meet Indian Prime Minister. They should answer this puzzle to the people of the state,'' the NC president said.

Welcoming dalit leaders into the party folds, he said his party stands for the reservation to dalits in the state.
