AIADMK MLA arrested for preventing erasing of Jaya's graffiti
Vellore, Tamil Nadu, June 5 (UNI) AIADMK legislator K Pandurangan was arrested by the police for preventing the authorities from erasing the graffiti of party supremo and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa here today.
Police sources told UNI that Mr Pandurangan and 45 of his supporters gathered at the entrance of a Primary Health Centre, where the officials were erasing the graffitis put up on the hospital compound walls.
Protesting against this, Mr Pandurangam allegedly prevented the authorities from erasing it, leading to his arrest.
It may be noted that Chennai City police had slapped a criminal case against Mr Pandurangan on May 31 for allegedly preventing the police officers from discharging their duty on May 30.
Mr Pandurangan, elected to the state Assembly from Anaicut constituency in Vellore, argued with the police at the entrance when the suspended AIADMK legislators were denied entry into the Secretariat complex.
During the course of heated arguments, Mr Pandurangan had allegedly threatened the police officials and prevented them from discharging their duties, the police said.
After a case was registered, Mr Pandurangan surrendered before the seventh Metropolitan Magistrate Court, George Town, and secured bail.
