Two Punjab Police constables dismissed from service

Bathinda, June 4 (UNI) Two Punjab police constables have been dismissed from service and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against an SHO for allegedly confiscating and then later releasing a truck full of poppy husk near Goniana Mandi here on April 10.

The police department ordered the dismissals after the inquiry headed by Deputy Superintendent of police (Headquarter) held constables, Harjas Singh and Binder Singh, along with a Special Police Officer (SPO) guilty of seizing and then later releasing a truck full of poppy husk near Goniana Mandi on April 10.

Police had registered a case under the NDPS Act against five people on April 14 after invetigations. During their interrogation, the police came to know about their alleged nexus with the police personnel of Dyalpura police station.

When contacted today, SSP Varinder Kumar confirmed the dismissal of the two police constables and order of a departmental inquiry against the SHO. The SSP has also recommended the dismissal of SPO Chaiber Singh in the case.
