Two people produced in court in a bank cheating case

Barasat, June 4 (UNI) Allahabad Bank Barasat branch manager and an advocate were today produced in a local court in North 24 Parganas, who were arrested for cheating nearly Rs 17 lakh from the bank last month.

Police had earlier arrested six people, including a woman promoter of Dum Dum, and three others who had taken loans with fake documents.

Police said the investigation revealed that a senior credit manager of the bank S Hazra had a 'nexus' with the racket while advocate Ashim Dutta was also involved in the cheating case.

Police said during interrogation it was revealed that the racket had earlier cheated a UBI Salt Lake Branch.

The racket used to draw loans from different banks for a single landed property, police added.

Both the manager and the advocate were produced before the court here this afternoon, police said.
