Suspected terrorists to be produced for remand on Tuesday

Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) The anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of Mumbai police would produce all the 11 suspected terrorists arrested from Aurangabad before the MCOCA court on Tuesday, for remand.

All of them were booked under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by the ATS and produced before Judge Abhay Thipsay on May 24 for their involvement in organised crime syndicate. The judge had sent all of them to police custody till June 6, as sought by the investigating agency.

The ATS, in a joint operation with the Aurangabad police on May 9, had arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) near the Ghrushneshwar temple at Verul village and seized arms and ammunition from them after a hot chase of about 80 km.

On the basis of the information received from the arrested persons, the ATS arrested eight more persons in three other operations and recovered arms and ammunition.

The ATS also recovered 16 AK-47 rifles, 3,200 live catridges of AK-47, 62 magazines, 43 kg of explosive substances and 50 hand-grenades from these arrested persons.

The suspected terrorists to be produced before the court on Tuesday are - Mohammed Amir Zakil Ahmed, Mohammed Zubir Sayad Anwar, Mohammed Muzafar Tanvir, Abdul Azim Jameel, Musthaz Ahmed Ishaq, David Ahmed Abdul Majeed, Afzal Khan Nabir Khan, Riyaz Ahmed Mohmmed, Mohammed Sharif Sabeer Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed Abdul Razak and Sayyed Akif Sayyed Jafroddin.
