Paris, June 4 (UNI) Sanam Singh and compatriot Jeevan Neduncherhiyan registered contrasting wins and while the former struggled to down a spirited Guillaume Rufin of France, the latter crushed another local Jerome Inzerillo in straight sets in the boys' singles event at the French Open today.

Seventh seed Sanam Singh infact rallied from behind to beat Rufin 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 whereas Jeevan was clinical in 6-1, 6-4 win over Inzerillo.

Jeevan broke Inzerillo twice in not time to race away with opening set 6-1 in just 24 minutes.

The local lad offered some resistance but could not make most of the opportunities and converted just one of the four breakpoints.

The Indian, on the otherhand, displayed better control and earned two breakpoints to win the set 6-4 and seal the match.

In another match, fancied Sanam struggled on the clay initially lost first set 1-6 to Rufin 1-6. But as the teenager from Chandigarh got into his groove in the second set, the local started looking off-colour.

Sanam converted all the three break points that came his way while Rufin suqandered two of the four and lost the set 7-5.

Sanam made Rufin pay for it and ruthlessly sealed the decider 6-2 to advance into the next round.
