Srinagar, June 4 (UNI) Sahil Zaroo, who surrendered before the police here yesterday, was today taken to New Delhi for investigations into the Rahul Mahajan case.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir S M Sahai told UNI that a team of Delhi Police took Sahil, the fourth person accused in the case, to the national capital for investigations.

Mr Sahai said the Jammu and Kashmir Police will render all assistance to Delhi Police in the investigations in the case.

''The case is being handled by the Delhi Police and we are ready to help in every possible way,'' he added.

A high drama was witnessed yesterday when Sahil, along with his lawyer Mohammad Aslam Goni, went to the office of a private TV channel and surrendered there.

''I am innocent,'' he said after the surrender.

Mr Goni later said that his client had not supplied drugs to Rahul Mahajan, the son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, as was being alleged. ''It is totally baseless,'' he claimed.

Mr Goni said Sahil, a resident of Nigeen, was invited by Bibek Biman Moitra, a close aide of late Pramod Mahajan, to a party at 7, Safdarjang Road, where the incident occurred.

He said Sahil had met Moitra in a party at Mumbai. ''Sahil was fond of high-society parties and has a house in Mumbai and Delhi. He had a number of freinds from the high society,'' Mr Goni added.

He claimed that Sahil had been falsely implicated in the case and surrendered to clear his name from the controversy.

''My client was at a wrong place on a wrong time,'' Mr Goni said.

Sahil said he surrendered in presence of media so that he could ''express his viewpoint''.

''Please talk to my lawyer,'' he replied when asked the details about the incident. Sahil said he was not feeling well and had been admitted to a nursing home here.
