Raman govt failed to fulfill poll promises, says Jogi
Raipur, June 4 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Ajit Jogi today said the Raman Singh government in Chhattisgarh has failed to fulfill its promises of providing unemployment allowance and waiving off farmer loans made during the December 2003 assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference at his residence, he said BJP in its manifesto for the elections had promised to provide unemployment allowance of Rs 500 and waive off the loans of all farmers.
The former chief minister said the party had also promised to start 1500 'Annapoorna Dal Bhat centres' where one could get 'stomach full of rice and dal at just Rs five. Only four of five such centres were now functioning in the state, he said.
Pointing out that its much publicised scheme to provide a cow to each tribal families could not yield desired results, The CWC member said the BJP also promised to provide patta (Land ownership deed) to forest dwellers. ''The state government cannot do it as it was under the purview of the forest conservation act'', he added. UNI JJ PK GC1414
