Railways to construct super speciality hospital in Perambur
Tiruchirapalli, Jun 4 (UNI) Railways will construct a 505-bed super speciality hospital at Perambur in Chennai at a cost of Rs 70 crore in three years.
Speaking to newspersons, Southern Railway Chief Medical Director Dr G C Raju said the job to design the mulI-storied hospital had already been entrusted to a private architect.
He said the existing old hospital would be used for medical care and tentative programmes were envisaged for the post graduate education centre.
Mr Raju said the railway hospital at Golden Rock in Tiruchirapalli would get additional high-tech infrastructure like laparascopic surgery system, video colonoscopy, C-arm imaging system at an expenditure of Rs 70 lakh.
A new 100-bed building would also be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore, he added.
He said the railway hospital at Trivandrum, especially the intensive care unit would be upgraded this year. Additional visiting specialists would be posted at the sub divisional hospitals at Erode, Villipuram and Shoranur.
He said efforts would be taken to fill in the 30 vacant posts of doctors soon.
