One killed, grenade attack in J

Srinagar, Jun 4 (UNI) One person was killed and an ultra surrendered while militants attacked a Dak Bungalow in Jammu and Kashmir since last evening, an official spokesman said today.

Unidentified gunmen entered into the house of Abdul Rashid Khan at Hamambal Chogal village in Handwara area of Kupwara district late last night and fired upon his son-in-law, Tasveer Hussain Malik (32), causing serious injuries to him.

Malik, a resident of Thalee Marg, Darhal in Rajouri district, was immediately rushed to the Sub-District Hospital, Handwara where he succumbed to injuries this morning, he added.

Militants last evening hurled a hand grenade towards the Dak Bungalow, Mendhar in Poonch district. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded in the premises of the Dak Bungalow, causing damage to its boundary wall.

An Al-Burq militant surrendered before the security forces in Bandipora last evening and handed over one wireless set, an AK assault rifle with a magazine and nine rounds, the spokesman said.
