MP's gunman opens fire in air
Ongole, June 4 (UNI) Ongole Congress MP Magunti Srinivas Reddy's gunman Subba Rao today opened fire in the air with his service revolver when two groups of Congress and Telugu Desam Party workers clashed over a issue at a village temple festival today.
Police said the incident occurred when Congress and TDP groups gathered near Pandellapally Village for Nagaratnamma Temple Festival.
Subba Rao, a native of Pandellapally village had to come to village for the festival when suddenly he fired two rounds in the air with his service revolver.
Later, the police took the rival groups to Chirala One Town Police Station where the TDP activists staged a dharna protesting the action. The police had to resort to mild lathicharge.
However, Prakasam District Superintendent of Police Balasubramanyam told UNI the situation was under control and the gunman is suspended.
