Mayawati advises Raja Bhaiyya to mend ways

Lucknow, June 4 (UNI) Even as Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister and independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya today said the POTA Court had termed charges against him as politicially motivated, former Chief Minister Mayawati asked him to mend his ways and leave criminal activities.

''I want to ask if those, who implicated me and my brother in the POTA case, can return our 19 months spent in jail,'' Raja Bhaiyya asserted, claiming he had no ill-feeling for Ms Mayawati.

Talking to mediapersons here, the State Minister said the special POTA court at Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh had commented the cases were political motivated against him and his cousin Akshay Pratap Singh.

However, he said they would move the High Court against the lower court verdict pronouncing jail term of 5 yrs and Rs 25,000 fine on his father Uday Pratap Singh in the POTA case.

''We are taking legal opinion and would approach the HC against the POTA court judgement,'' he added.

Meanwhile, Ms Mayawati said the court had given a chance to Raja Bhaiyya to mend his ways and lead a good life. ''The court has punished his father, who had converted his son into a criminal,'' she observed.

The BSP leader said since the illegal weapon was recovered from the house of Raja Bhaiyya's father, he was punished for it.

''It is right time for him (Raja Bhaiyya) to take a lesson and shed all criminal activities,'' she added.
