Maharashtra Govt to name chowk after Jawaharlal Darda

Mumbai, June 4 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has decided to name a chowk between Bombay Samachar Marg and Dalal Street in South Mumbai after former minister late Jawaharlal Darda.

Addressing a gathering here today, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that Darda had contributed immensely for the development and progress of the state.

Describing Darda as his senior colleague and an 'ajatshatru', he said, ''Darda knew how to find a way out in hard and trying situations.'' The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of Mr Darda and Lokmat group of newspapers in political and social sectors.

Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, Lokmat Group's chief editor and MP Vijay Darda, Rajendra Darda and civic Commissioner Johny Joseph were present on the occasion.
