Panaji, June 4 (UNI) The Inox Multiplex here has withdrawn the screening of the controversial film ''The Da Vinci Code'' without citing any reason even as, some Christian organisations had hreaten to demonstrate against it today.

In a notice displayed at the ticket counters this morning, the Inox management regretted inconvenience caused to the filmgoers by withdrawing the film which had earlier been screened without any hassle for the last two days.

The complex witnessed a bomb scare yesterday which turned out to be a hoax with cops finding nothing in the government owned tructure.

Meanwhile, anti-Da Vinci film groups, led by south Goa MP Churchil Alemao, in a meeting today condemned the Inox management for daring to screen the film disregarding the religious sentiments of the Catholic community.

In no uncertain terms, he said the screening would be stalled if the management continued to go ahead with the film. Some groups had even planned a demonstration in front of the complex where security had been beefed up with additional policemen deployed as a precautionary measure.

Mr Alemao had also criticised the Rane government for failing to ban the film in Goa where Catholics constitute 30 per cent of the population.

The filmgoers, mostly youth, felt frustrated as they found the notices pasted at the ticket counters of the complex.
