St John's, Antigua, June 4 (UNI) Having conceded a vital 130-run lead to the hosts, who made 371 in their first innings, India had a job at hand and the visitors were 16 for no loss at lunch in their second essay on the third day of the first test here today.

Indifferent as ever Virender Sehwag hit two trademark fours and a six to be unbeaten on 14 while Wasim Jaffer was giving him company on one.

Sehwag looked in ominous form right from the first over. He slashed Colin Collymore to the third man boundary to open the account.

He followed that with a sweetly timed on side stroke that again fetched him four runs. But the shot of his short innings so far was a hard swipe at Edwards that went over the ropes for a six.

Earlier, greenhorn seamer V R V Singh redeemed himself by scalping two while Munaf Patel and Kumble shared wicket apiece as the India restricted West Indies for 371 but not before handing the hosts a vital first innings lead of 130 runs.

West Indies first innings ended half an hour before lunch time.

Continuing from an overnight score of 318 for six, West Indies lost two wickets but their batsmen continued to score quickly. to score quickly. West Indies were 360 for the loss of 8 wickets after first hour's play.

In the morning, Munaf Patel got rid of Dinesh Ramdin (26) while V R V Singh got his first Test wicket by getting rid of Ian Bradshaw (33).

Bowling a tight leash, Munaf kept Bradshaw under lots of pressure. The batsman tried to get out of the shackles by coming down the pitch and trying to hit over covers but he managed a leading edge that just fell short of third man.

Bradshaw attempted the same shot off V R V the very next over but the ball lampooned to Yuvraj Singh at point thus giving V R V Singh his first Test wicket.

Tasting blood VRV stepped up the gas was rewarded with second wicket soon when he had Fidel Edwards (4) edged one to Dhoni.

Kumble sent Collin Collymore (0) back to end the West Indies innings on 371.
