Don't go ahead with reservation. says BAKGDMP

New Delhi, June 4 (UNI) The Bharatiya Adiwasi Kahar Gond Dhuria Maha Panchayat (BAKGDMP)-- a national body of three major backward classes--has urged the Government not to go ahead with the reservation of seats in higher educational institutions.

BAKGDMP national general secretary Lalji Dhuria in a two-paged letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, has requested him not to go ahead with the move of reserving a fixed number of seats in the higher educational institutes as it would not be of national interest.

Mr Dhuria said the reservation of seats for medical students, scientists, engineers was against the public interest.

He said the Government should ensure that in the name of cast, poor upper class people should not be exploited.

''The governemnt should identify all rich and socially-established people hailing from backward and tribal communities, who are pocketing all benefits meant for the backward classes,'' he said. It should made its polices keeping in mind the economically weaker section and middle class people.
