Division of Assets,Liabilities of Bihar-Jharkand remain unresolved

Patna, Jun 4 (UNI) The Bihar government has approached the Centreto mediate and resolve the issue of dividing assets and liabilities of 18 public sector undertakings which existed in 2000 when Jharkhand was carved out of the parent Bihar state.

Bureau of Public Enterprises chairman in Bihar R.C. Vaishya wrote a letter to Union Home Secretary V K Duggal on May 29 seeking a meeting of senior officials of both the states on any date between June 5 and 10 for sorting out all the issues pertaining to division of assets and liabilities between Bihar and Jharkhand.

Mr Vaishya pointed this out at a meeting between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil in New Delhi few days back when the former had raised the matter.

The chairman also focused in the letter that meeting between Chief Secretaries and senior officers of both the states should be held every month in the backdrop of a directive of the Supreme Court, could not be organised for the last several months, delaying the division of assets and liabilities.
