BJP to protest acquisition of farmland for industry

Sodepur, West Bengal, June 4 (UNI) The West Bengal BJP today decided to keep a keen watch on the acquisition of farmland for industry.

In a meeting, state BJP president Tathagata Roy warned the West Bengal government that they would keep a keen watch over the acquisition of farmland for industrial purpose.

'' We will not oppose any project just for the sake of it, but if we see that fertile cultivable land are being acquired for industrial growth when there are other alternatives we will protest, '' he said.

The BJP will also fight for generation of creation of employment in the state, something that plagued the people here, he said.

'' At the same time the Executive Committee made it clear that the people of different religions, who have entered India for fear of their lives in face of atrocities in Bangladesh be given refugee status, '' he said.

At the same time the committee had asked the state government to immediately stop all kinds of infiltration from the neighbouring countries.

The Committee further demanded that the number of ''mosques and madrassas, being made across the state with funding from Bangladesh, be stopped immediately.

'' Some of these institutions have become havens of anti-national activities. The state BJP wants immediate stop to such activities and threatened to begin a statewide agitation protesting this, '' Mr Roy said.
