Ajay emerges champion in maiden edition of JK Jr Racing Cup

Chennai, June 4 (UNI) Ajay Kini of Team Valvoline from Chennai emerged the champion in the inaugural version of the JK Tyre Junior Racing Cup for the Formula Maruti category at the MMST racing track at Irungattukottai near here today.

Ajay, starting from the pole had an almost unbeatable lead at the beginning of the final round. He needed only a finish in the top eight to ensure that the crown was his.

He made no mistakes as he drove to a facile win in Race one. The race saw Ajay Kini losing the lead in the first lap to R Deepak. The duo was then engaged in a duel for the first place with Deepak leading till lap four. After this Ajay regained the lead. Ajay drove well to ensure that he held the lead till the finish to take the chequered flag.

Deepak finished runner up while Saran Vikram Tmars placed third.

Later, talking to newspersons Ajay, who qualified for the senior national road racing championship said he was happy that JK Tyres were enabling youngsters who wanted to take to motorsport but had no other family member in the sport to inspire them, to take to the sport.

He said he would be competing next in the Rotax Carting championships in Malaysia beginning on June15.
