TRS need not merge with Congress

Visakhapatnam, June 3 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President K Kesava Rao today asserted that there was no need for the merger of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) with the state ruling Congress party and observed that it was the opinion of a section of TRS leaders.

Talking to newspersons here, after launching the campaigning for local bodies and panchayat elections through the 'Grama Behri' programme he said as part of electoral understanding with the TRS, the local leaders would be given freedom to work out the strategy along with MLAs and senior leaders of party.

He said the TRS had even assured the Congress that it would strive for the defeat of Telugu Desam Party and the BJP.
